Commercial and industrial utility customers in Connecticut are eligible for funding for energy-efficiency upgrades and projects.

Millions of dollars are available, but many business owners may not be aware of it. To change this and get more companies to avail themselves of the funding, utility companies in the region have launched a new online dashboard feature on the Energize CT website.

The site outlines available funding for energy efficiency-related new construction and equipment, as well as for upgrades, such as retrofitting older energy equipment.

Elizabeth Murphy, commercial and industrial (C&I) supervisor at Avangrid Inc., said being informed is critical in the planning process for these projects.

“It is our hope that by making it easily accessible for C&I customers to realize the energy incentives available, they will take advantage of the funds and assistance we can provide,” Murphy said in an announcement. “We want to make sure they know there are ways to make these energy projects more affordable and save on annual utility costs.”

Staff at Avangrid’s subsidiaries, including United Illuminating, Connecticut Natural Gas and Southern Connecticut Gas, can assist customers with identifying opportunities and calculating potential savings.

The incentives aim to make energy-related projects more affordable. Utility officials can provide assistance throughout the process, from energy audits to project installation.

Businesses around the state have already saved money by improving the efficiency of their facilities’ electrical and gas equipment, such as by replacing heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, lighting, water heaters and commercial cooking equipment.

To see a breakdown of how much money has been spent, committed, and is still available, visit EnergizeCT.com/incentive-status.

As of Aug. 1, the most recent data available, United Illuminating had $7.4 million incentive funds still available, Connecticut Natural Gas had $1.7 million, and Southern Connecticut Gas had $2.5 million.
