Aviation firm building $20M complex at Waterbury-Oxford Airport

Clay Lacy Aviation is planning to build a $20 million corporate hangar, fixed based operator and maintenance complex at Waterbury-Oxford Airport

Private jet management and maintenance firm Clay Lacy Aviation is expanding at Waterbury-Oxford Airport, building a $20 million facility that is expected to add 100 jobs.

The Connecticut Airport Authority on Thursday announced the expansion, which includes a 30-year lease on 16 acres of land at the airport, located in the town of Oxford.

The provider of charter aircraft management and maintenance services established operations at the airport in 2015 with the acquisition of Key Air.

The new Fixed Base Operator and maintenance, repair and overhaul complex will expand Clay Lacy’s Northeast U.S. base of operations, according to the announcement.

Scott Cutshall, the company’s senior vice president for business operations, said Friday morning that the 160,000-square-foot complex will be built in two phases. The first phase, encompassing 40,000 square feet, is expected to be completed by 2022.

The second phase will be completed at a future date, he said.

CAA Executive Director Kevin Dillon said in a statement that the expansion will allow the company to expand its depth and breadth of services.

“A brand new FBO and hangar complex will attract new businesses and bring more jobs to our local economy,” he said.
