Chamber to host 228th annual meeting and awards Oct. 13

The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce will host its 228th Annual Meeting and Business Leadership Awards from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale, located at 155 Temple St., New Haven.

The event, presented by ConnectiCare and TD Bank, will feature the election and installation of new board members and a celebration of the regional business community’s accomplishments. 

A cocktail reception featuring live entertainment, networking, hors d'oeuvres and drinks will follow. The cost is $75 for partners and $95 for non-partners.

The Annual Awards Program will honor the following individuals and businesses:

The Achievements in Manufacturing Award - Ulbrich Stainless Steels and Special Metals

The Small Business Leadership Award - Pacifico Group (Pacifico, Villa Lulu, Bulldog Hot Dogs and Tomatillo) and Farnam Realty Group

Volunteer of the Year Award - Lindy Lee Gold, senior development specialist for Connecticut’s Department of Economic and Community Development

The Alumnus of the Leadership Center Award - Paul Lavoie, Connecticut’s chief manufacturing officer

The William Lanson Community Leadership Award - Vin Petrini, senior vice president and chief policy and communications officer for the Yale New Haven Health System

The Corporate Heritage Award - Foxon Park Beverages for their 100 years of service

The 2022 Sharon Clemons Equity & Inclusive Opportunity Award - The Narrative Project.

One of the award recipients, Lavoie, took part in the chamber’s leadership program which focused on different aspects of the New Haven business ecosystem, bringing in guest speakers, community leaders and others to make connections, and talk about the benefits of being associated with New Haven businesses. 

“I am honored to receive the Alumnus of the Leadership Center award,” Lavoie said. “My participation in the leadership program at the Greater New Haven Chamber was a rewarding and meaningful experience. It created strong bonds with other leaders in the Greater New Haven region that have been beneficial for all of us in our cohort.”

Mercy Quaye, founder and president of The Narrative Project (TNP) said the award offers “a welcomed full circle moment.”

"ConnCORP was one of TNP's first partners and Sharon Clemons' relationship with ConnCORP isn't lost on us,” Quaye said. “We're so profoundly honored to be this year's recipient and we know that living up to the award's namesake is a monumental responsibility and a challenge we accept."

New members will be installed into the chamber’s board of directors.

Sunny Lakshminarayanan, vice president of engineering and environmental services at Regional Water Authority

Holly Raider, dean of the School of Business at Quinnipiac University 

David Ferretti, senior vice president, market manager for New Haven at Webster Bank

Jess Boronico, dean of the School of Business at Southern Connecticut State University

William (Terry) Brown, CEO of Gateway Community College

Brian Courtney, partner at Updike Kelly & Spellacy, P.C.

Carlos Texidor, vice president of global shave operations at Edgewell Personal Care

Farrell Simon, senior vice president, head of commercial and strategy at Trevi Therapeutics

Erik Clemons, CEO of ConnCORP.

All event attendees will be registered for a chance to win a grand prize which includes two round-trip tickets for Avelo Airlines, an overnight stay at the New Haven Hotel, a $100 gift card to New Haven restaurant Villa Lulu and more.
