New Haven Night Market returns this week

The New Haven Night Market, an evening bazaar celebrating all things New Haven, will return downtown Oct. 14 with a new location on Chapel Street.

More than 85 vendors, from artists and entrepreneurs to local businesses and organizations, will share curated wares, food, drink, art, music, culture, causes and more.

The Night Market will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Chapel Street Historic Business District, with vendors along Chapel Street from College to York streets. Admission is free to the family-friendly event and leashed pets are welcome. The rain date is Oct. 15.

In addition to vendors, the event will feature businesses in the Chapel Street Historic District offering one-night-only “Night Market Promos” to visitors, including a gift basket raffle at dwell New Haven, trunk show at Ragg’s, Night Market-themed smoothie at Claire’s, special market hours at the Yale University Art Gallery and more.

For the first time, the Night Market will host New Haven-based fashion designers and artists at the “NHV Wearable Art Pop Up,” located inside 1090 Chapel St., in partnership with The Shops at Yale. The pop-up will feature several local vendors, including MiniPNG, a textile artist and clothing designer with a newly-opened store at 77 Audubon St.

Francesca Vignola, director of marketing and events for the Town Green Special Services District, which hosts the Night Market, encouraged people to come out. 

“The New Haven Night Market is a one-night-only celebration of New Haven arts, artists, entrepreneurs, food, businesses and culture,” she said. “With over 85 vendors sharing their handmade and curated items, food and causes, this is the largest NHVNM ever held. And with performances, special photo ops, art-making activities, a dunk tank, tattoo station, games and much more, everyone can find their reason to come hang out at the Night Market.”

  • Pumpkin Workshop & Prize Wheel with Olive & Wooster Apartments
  • DIY Button-Making Station with Makehaven
  • Night Market-themed Photo Booth with The Shops at Yale
  • Beaded Bracelet Station with Ives Squared, NHFPL
  • Moon Photo Op painted by artist @marshunart
  • Game Zone with lawn games, foam axe-throwing activity and more with Pine & Iron Axe Throwing

The INFONewHaven Stage at the Night Market will feature the following performances:

  • 5 p.m. - Hawkins Jazz Collective
  • 6 p.m. - Fernanda and The Ephemeral (FaTE)
  • 7 p.m. - Isabella Mendes
  • 8 p.m. - Timmy Maia Band
  • 9 p.m. - Interactive Drag Performance in partnership with the New Haven Pride Center
