When Gov. Ned Lamont helped introduce sports betting to Connecticut and Foxwoods Casino last month, he placed his bet in a temporary sportsbook set up inside the facility’s Ultimate Racebook.
But in a few weeks, guests will be able to place their wagers on football, basketball and other sports in the casino’s new sportsbook.
Construction on the two-story, 12,000-square-foot sportsbook began over the summer.
It will have 30 televisions, including one of the largest LED screens in the industry that measures 50-by-30 feet. It will also have 200 dining and bar seats, slot machines, and multiple VIP rooms.
“The DraftKings Sportsbook at Foxwoods is slated to open later this fall. Stay tuned for more information,” Foxwoods spokeswoman Megan McLean of Shift Communications said in an email.
The sportsbook will be at the Foxwoods’ Great Cedar Casino in Ledyard.
Foxwoods guests can place bets at the temporary sportsbook at Foxwoods inside the Ultimate Race Book or on a kiosk, located in the sportsbook and throughout the casino. Bets may be placed with cash or a voucher at the kiosks.
Mohegan Sun casino in nearby Uncasville also has a sportsbook in partnership with FanDuel. Mohegan Sun renovated its Bow & Sports bar, which now boasts one of the largest TV walls in the Northeast and 50 betting kiosks.
