The Amy’s Hallmark store is the latest closure to impact the Meriden Mall.
The business will be closing as of Tuesday, Jan. 26. The retailer has been having discount sales to clear its merchandise. As of this weekend, a significant portion of the inventory had been sold, though a large assortment of cards and other items still remained.
Staff at the store this week deferred media inquiries to Hallmark’s corporate office, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Some of the remaining Meriden inventory includes several racks of cards.
The Hallmark Cards Inc. chain is headquartered in Kansas City, Mo. The family-owned company is over a century old and employs some 30,000 people around the world, according to its website.
Hallmark stores sell greeting cards, gift wrap, clothing, stuffed animals, home decor, ornaments and collectibles.

In 2020, Namdar Realty Group of Great Neck, N.Y. acquired the mall at 470 Lewis Ave., Meriden and rebranded it as “Meriden Mall.”
The mall has seen several tenant departures in the past year, with previous anchor Macy’s among the largest.
