Hartford law firm Murtha Cullina elected Andy Corea as the firm's managing partner.

Corea, who currently chairs Murtha Cullina's business and finance department, will start in his new role on Jan. 1. He will succeed Jennifer Morgan DelMonico, who became managing partner in 2015.

“Andy is a dynamic and effective leader with the vision, judgment, and demeanor to lead Murtha Cullina through a period of persistent change,” DelMonico said.

A Woodbridge resident, Corea is partner in Murtha's intellectual property practice group, which specializes in IP issues like trademarks, copyrights and licensing.

Corea also serves as an adjunct professor at the Connecticut School of Law in Hartford, and is a past president of the Connecticut Intellectual Property Law Association and the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut.

“This is an exciting time at Murtha," Corea said. "Our exceptional attorneys have taken the lead in multiple high-profile transactions, litigations, and appeals over the past several years."
