Janesky’s Contractor Nation acquires Tenn. dealer

A Seymour company that provides a range of home improvement contractor-related services has acquired a company in Tennessee.

Larry Janesky, founder and CEO of Contractor Nation, announced this week that the company had purchased Master Service Companies of Knoxville, Tenn.

Officials did not disclose the amount of the transaction. 

“We will be working with existing leadership and team members to take the company to new heights, starting right now,” Janesky said in the announcement.

Janesky originally started Connecticut Basement Systems in Seymour 32 years ago. It initially offered basement waterproofing services, but has expanded over the years to include more services, including basement finishing, and crawl space and foundation improvements.

Janesky’s Contractor Nation, founded in 1990 and also based in Seymour, seeks to help home-improvement contractors achieve success, including through business growth training and sales and marketing advice.

The acquisition of Master Service Companies is expected to strengthen the company’s network of home services contractors, according to Janesky. 

Master Service Companies was founded in 2007 and provides many similar services, including basement waterproofing, crawl-space encapsulation, foundation repair and concrete leveling. It currently employs about 200 people. In addition to its Knoxville headquarters, the company also has locations in Indianapolis, Ind. and Winston-Salem, N.C. 

Under the terms of the deal, Master Service Companies’ senior leadership will remain unchanged. 

Josh Smith, founder of Master Service business, said he has an established relationship with Janesky and his team. Smith called Janesky, “the right person to take the business to the next level.”

Contractor Nation operates independent basement, crawl space and foundation repair companies in the United States and Canada, such as Basement Systems, CleanSpace, Total Basement Finishing, Dr. Energy Saver and National Radon Defense.
