Lab Logistics Management, a West Haven-based company serving the healthcare industry, recently acquired The Allied Group, which is headquartered in Cranston, R.I.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The two companies have a similar focus. Lab Logistics Management, founded in 2012, provides outsourced medical supplies, kitting and logistics services to the healthcare industry, and it is a portfolio company of Atlantic Street Capital. Its customers include medical laboratories, hospitals and university health systems. Its technology includes software that tracks courier and lab specimen locations.
The Allied Group, meanwhile, designs, prints and assembles diagnostic kits, fulfilling more than 2.5 million kits each year for healthcare and life sciences companies. Its specimen collection kits are used for genetic screening and to detect hereditary diseases, for example. The company was founded in 1946.
Lab Logistics CEO Ruth Abdulmassih said it is a “strategic combination.”
She said the acquisition demonstrates Lab Logistics’ commitment to expanding its product offerings and growth into the pharma services customer sector. The deal will also expand the company’s domestic and international reach, she added.
“We look forward to welcoming The Allied Group team to the Lab Logistics family,” she said.
Bob Clement, CEO of The Allied Group, called Lab Logistics a “strong cultural fit” for the company.
“I look forward to working with Ruth and the Lab Logistics team to ensure a smooth transition for all of our stakeholders,” he said.
Andy Wilkins, chairman of Lab Logistics and managing partner at Atlantic Street Capital, said they are actively seeking other “complementary add-on acquisitions to round out our products and service portfolio.”
