A local bank is stepping up with a new program to help struggling food establishments, which have felt the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Milford Bank announced this week it will rebate $5 of the food delivery fee to its customers when they place orders at local restaurants using their Milford Bank debit card.
To qualify, orders must be placed at restaurants in Milford, Stratford, Orange and West Haven using the food-delivery services DoorDash, Grubhub, Uber Eats, Postmates or Slices.
The bank said it will offer the rebate on the first five deliveries per month, for a maximum of $25 per checking account. The limited-time program began on Feb. 15.
“Over the years, many restaurants have been so generous in donating food to local organizations and people in need. Now, they’re the ones in need of assistance,” Susan Shields, the bank’s CEO and president, said in a news release. “It is our pleasure to offer a helping hand to them.”
The bank has five offices and a loan center in Milford and in Stratford, as well as a loan protection office in downtown New Haven.
