Modell's Sporting Goods is resuming "going out of business" liquidation sale at 107 stores, including all four Connecticut locations.
The sporting goods chain, which operates 137 stores nationwide, had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on March 11, shortly before retailers across the country closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The stores that will close are all in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic region.
The liquidation sales are being conducted by a joint venture of New York financial services firm Tiger Capital Group, Los Angeles-based Great American Group and Massachusetts-based SB360 Capital Partners.
"The store-closing sales got off to a very strong start on March 13, before we had to temporarily shut down due to the pandemic," a representative of the joint venture said.
Modell's stores in Connecticut participating in the liquidation sale include locations in Bridgeport, Newington, Milford and Stamford.
