The New Haven Manufacturers Association (NHMA) recently elected a new officer and two new board members at its annual meeting. NHMA President Bill Neale, chief operating officer of Radiall Inc., was re-elected to a second one-year term. Jeffery Paz, senior vice president of People's United Bank, was named NHMA's secretary. Joining NHMA's board are Ken Lisk, president of Lacey Manufacturing Co., and Jamie Barr, an associate with Langan Engineering.
JoAnn Price, a board member of the downtown YMCA of Greater Hartford and the North End's Wilson-Gray YMCA Youth and Family Center, was honored at the White House recently as one of 12 YMCA "Champions of Change."
The Champions of Change program was created as an opportunity for the White House to feature groups of Americans — individuals, businesses and organizations — who are empowering and inspiring members of their communities.
At the Wilson-Gray Y, Price has helped to develop a Youth Achievers Program, helping youngsters in grades five through 12 develop life skills and achieve key educational goals through active engagement with adult role models and mentors. In addition, Price, co-founder of Fairview Capital Partners, supports the Adult Achievers Program, providing parents and grandparents of Youth Achievers with guidance and support regarding a multitude of issues and concerns that impact their wellbeing.
Bloomfield resident and former engineering consultant Robert Bossler was recently named an honorary fellow of the American Helicopter Society International. Bossler was recognized for his 60 years of professional work that helped advance the mechanical technology of helicopters and vertical flight.
Bossler holds 21 patents for his inventions, including the "Kaflex coupling," which was originally the "Bossler coupling." Driveshafts with Kaflex couplings were retrofitted on all Army UH-1 "Huey" and Cobra attack helicopters. Bossler's work continues to prosper at Kaman Corp.'s Kamatics division, with the Kaflex product line that has achieved millions of hours of flight time on thousands of helicopters. Additionally, while working with the Army/NASA Advanced Rotorcraft Transmission Program, Bossler developed the split-torque transmission concept for which he received three NASA awards.
Barbara S. Miller, a principal with Fairfield law firm Brody Wilkinson PC, has been recognized as a leading environmental lawyer in Connecticut by Chambers USA. Miller advises clients on a wide range of transactional and regulatory environmental matters, including due diligence, risk allocation, permitting and remediation. Among other recent representative matters, she served as environmental counsel for a 55 acre mixed-use brownfield development in Redding. She serves on the executive committee of the environmental law section of the Connecticut Bar Association. Miller also represents businesses and individuals in commercial transactions and employment matters.
