Following rounds of 2020 layoffs, the Subway restaurant chain announced a May hiring frenzy designed to bring 40,000 new roles to its restaurants nationwide.

“As Subway’s business continues to grow, we are seeing a greater need for employees across the board, in every state,” said Alyssa Goldfarb, a spokeswoman for  Subway.

Goldfarb said positions range from entry level to management, and include job perks like academic scholarships as well as leadership training for eligible candidates.

Last May, the company reduced its global workforce by nearly 150 employees, including more than 100 workers at its Milford headquarters. At the time, the company cited the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on business. The company has had a number of upper management changes too.
