A manufacturer of miniature precision fluid control products in Westbrook announced a new workforce benefit on Tuesday: employees will no longer have to pay monthly premiums on their medical insurance.
Under the new policy, which took effect on Jan. 1, employees of The Lee Company will not have to pay any monthly medical plan premium for their existing Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield plan.
“Families everywhere are dealing with rising health care costs and the lingering economic and social impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Bill Lee, president and CEO of The Lee Company. “We are thrilled to be able to provide this benefit to help ease the burden on employees and their families.”
President and CEO of the Connecticut Business & Industry Association Chris DiPentima said it’s an example of a company offering an innovative solution to address the state’s workforce crisis.
Employees of The Lee Company, along with their spouses and families, will be covered as usual, according to the announcement. Their level of coverage, deductibles and copays will not change.
Founded in 1948, The Lee Company spans more than 1.2 million square feet in Westbrook and Esse, and has roughly 1,100 employees.
The company offers a profit-sharing plan, tuition reimbursement, a scholarship fund and advanced manufacturing training, among other benefits.
