New Haven-based Wellinks announced Thursday that Dr. Abi Sundaramoorthy had been named the company’s new chief medical officer.
Sundaramoorthy will help shape the company’s clinical strategic direction and development and deployment of Wellinks’ products. She will also be responsible for leading the medical staff and care teams, managing quality goals and supporting ongoing business and clinical development efforts, according to a company statement.
Named one of the Top 25 Emerging Leaders by Modern Healthcare, Sundaramoorthy previously served as system clinical value officer and chief medical officer in the University Hospitals Health System in Ohio.
Wellinks CEO Alex Waldron said, “Dr. Sundaramoorthy has a proven track record of leading successful clinical programs, fostering deep connections across the scientific and medical communities to put the patient first and a depth of experience in value-based chronic disease management.”
A digital health company specializing in the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Wellinks banked $25 million in a funding round last year for development of its virtual product.
