West Hartford-based IT company CompassMSP acquired New York-based Tarrytech Computer Consultants, Inc., as the company continues growth through acquisition.
Under the acquisition deal, Tarrytech will retain its team and location, CompassMSP said. It will now operate under the name Tarrytech: A CompassMSP Company.
"Bringing Tarrytech into the CompassMSP family has been a goal of mine for a while. I have known Jamie for years and have always been impressed by him and his business," said CompassMSP CEO Ari Santiago. "This is a great combination for our team and clients."
West Hartford became CompassMSP's headquarters earlier this year, when it acquired IT Direct, and installed as its CEO Santiago, who founded and led IT Direct. Previously, CompassMSP was based in Florida. IT Direct now operates under the name IT Direct: A CompassMSP Company.
Acquisitions are an important part of Compass' strategy to grow and expand into new markets, Josh Kotler, Compass' chief strategy officer and head of acquisitions, told HBJ earlier this year. Connecticut's proximity to Boston and New York, in addition to its concentration of small and midsize businesses, make the state a good place to base operations, he said.
