Westbrook-based manufacturer acquires UK business

The Lee Company, a Westbrook-based manufacturer whose products have been used in race cars and astronaut gear, recently acquired TTP Ventus Limited.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

TTP Ventus is based near Cambridge, in the United Kingdom. The company invented and manufactures silent, compact micropumps and pump modules. Its technology has applications in the medical, life science, environmental and industrial sectors, according to an announcement.

The Lee Company indicated that TTP Ventus’ products will complement its existing miniature fluid control components, which are used in the same industries.

Bill Lee, president and CEO of the family-run company, said the acquisition will enhance its offerings in the life science and medical markets.

“The fit with our existing product lines is strong, and we expect our global force of sales engineers to accelerate Ventus’ growth,” Lee said. 

TTP Ventus will be renamed as LEE Ventus, and it will become Lee’s eleventh production group and fourth member of its electro fluidic systems division.

LEE Ventus will continue operations in the United Kingdom, and it is Lee’s first international production unit.

James McCrone, head of business operations with the seller, TTP Group, said the company is delighted with the acquisition.

“The Lee Company’s established leadership in precision fluidic control and their global sales reach makes them the ideal acquisition partner,” McCrone said.

The Lee Company was founded in 1948. It has more than 1,100 employees and more than 1.2 million square feet of manufacturing space in Westbrook and Essex.
