Yale’s Innovation Summit to feature $100K+ in prizes

Yale University’s Innovation Summit, which has become Yale’s largest entrepreneurship event and largest gathering of venture capital investors in Connecticut, returns this month.

The Summit will be an in-person event and runs from May 17-18 at the Omni Hotel, 155 Temple St., New Haven.

The event will feature approximately 100 technology, biotech and digital health innovations, presented via 24 live pitches and 70 E-poster presentations. More than $100,000 in prizes will be awarded to various innovators.

The two-day event will open with registration at 2 p.m. on May 17, followed by opening remarks and a welcome from New Haven Mayor Josh Elicker and Josh Geballe, senior associate provost for entrepreneurship & innovation at Yale.

Dawn Hocevar, president & CEO of BioCT, will present the first annual "State of the Life Science Industry" address along with industry insiders and state leaders, who from 3:15 to 4 p.m. will discuss investment trends, economic impact, talent pipelines, infrastructure developments and opportunities on the horizon.

At 4 p.m., panelists including representatives of Alexion and AdvanceCT, will be on hand for a “Why Connecticut?” discussion.

The day’s events conclude with closing remarks at 4:45 p.m. by Gov. Ned Lamont, followed by a 5 p.m. opening day reception.

On May 18, registration begins at 7 a.m. followed by the 8 a.m. opening. Former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi will deliver a keynote address at 8:30 a.m. Various panel discussions kick off at 9:10 a.m., on topics ranging from trends in BioTech investing to health care.

The day’s second keynote address will be given by CEO of The Engine, Katie Rae, at 3:35 p.m.

The Summit will also feature a career expo, including representatives from Alexion, BioCT and Pfizer, and job seekers are encouraged to attend.
