Guilford Savings Bank has leased a 2,483-square-foot building for a new branch in the Northford section of North Branford.
The building is a freestanding former bank with a drive-through at 1409 Middletown Ave., a busy corner in Northford center at the intersection with Route 22.
GSB anticipates occupying the space in late September, according to an announcement. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.
Frank Hird, SIOR, and Adam Gregg of O,R&L Commercial’s Branford office represented the landlord, Reeds Gap Rental Company LLC, and procured GSB as the new tenant.
GSB currently has seven offices, in Guilford, Madison, North Haven, Branford and Old Saybrook. The North Haven branch opened earlier this year, and the North Branford site will be the chain’s eighth location.
GSB dates back to 1875, and it started with one branch on the Guilford green.
Timothy Geelan, GSB president and CEO, said the chain is excited to celebrate the upcoming opening of another new branch, as its Connecticut footprint continues to expand.
“This a great opportunity to work with the residents and businesses of all sizes in Northford, North Branford and beyond, as we become trusted partners with the community,” Geelan said.
The new branch will be staffed with local banking, lending and business experts. Customers will be greeted by a team member, who, with the aid of a tablet, will guide them to services and products best suited to their individual needs, according to GSB.
Kyle Eagleson, 1st executive vice president and chief financial officer for GSB, said local residents and business owners will benefit from having a locally-based financial services partner.
“GSB could not be more pleased to be coming to Northford,” Eagleson said.
Jeff Hanrahan of North Branford, who has more than six years of experience in banking and branch leadership, has been named as branch manager of the Northford location.
“It’s hard to believe but having just bought a home in North Branford allows me to serve and help my very own neighbors reach their financial goals, which is GSB’s goal every day,” Hanrahan said.
