Mohegan Sun on Thursday said a majority of its 80 dining, nightlife and retail locations have reopened since the casino and entertainment complex temporarily closed in April and May during the initial COVID-19 outbreak.
On Friday, Michael Jordan owned Mexican restaurant, SolToro, will become the latest business to reopen at Mohegan Sun, along with new retail outlet, Rove Home. Tech retailer bluewire says it plans to reopen Friday, Sept. 11.
Since reopening on June 1, amid pushback from Gov. Ned Lamont and others, the casino as of Friday has steadily reopened 34 dining and 24 retail locations.
Mohegan's health and safety plan starts with non-invasive temperature checks for all guests and workers as they enter the property. Both guests and employees are required to wear masks unless eating or drinking, as security is tasked with providing masks and enforcing social distancing rules. Smoking is also currently not permitted indoors, although there are designated smoking areas outside.
Both of the casino hotel towers, Sky Tower and Earth Tower, are open with new cleaning and check-in measures in place, officials say.
