Mohegan Sun, which reopened on June 1, this week allowed dozens of restaurants, shops, clubs and other venues to reopen following months of COVID-19-related shutdowns.
Owned by Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE), the casino says it invested more than $1 million in new safety measures to provide non-invasive thermal temperature checks at all entrances, increased cleaning and disinfecting protocols, plexiglass dividers across many locations, and for an ultraviolet lighting system.
Mohegan said businesses including BALLO Italian Restaurant, Jasper White’s Summer Shack, MJ23 Sports Bar & Grill, The Lansdowne Irish Pub & Music House, Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, Bobby’s Burger Palace, Todd English’s Tuscany, Pasta Vita, The Race Book and Comix Roadhouse all reopened this week with new physical distancing and safety protocols in place.
In total, 20 of the more than 35 retail outlets in the 130,000-square-foot Shops at Mohegan Sun reopened this week, and more are expected to reopen in the coming weeks.
Sky Tower, Mohegan’s 34-story hotel, also opened additional rooms this week and is welcoming guests from all 50 states. The hotel is upping safety measures by using enhanced cleanings and sanitation fogging after each stay, among other procedures.
There are, however, a few areas that are still closed at Mohegan, located in the Uncasville section of Montville.
Those areas include the poker room, Seasons Buffet, novelle, SolToro, New Belgium Tap Room, GAME ON, the Wolf Den, Mohegan Sun Arena and Bean & Vine Café & Wine Bar. Pools, gyms, valet parking and bus transportation also remain closed.
Smoking continues to be prohibited indoors with designated smoking areas available at various outdoor locations.
Other recent and impending reopenings can be found here.
